About me
The short version
I have a degree in music (BMus) from King's College London, diplomas in Musical Theatre Performance (DipLCM) from The London College Of Music and Piano (DipABRSM), from ABRSM.
I started to play the piano at about 3 years old, next came singing, next came the flute. I have also always had a passion for acting, appearing in local theatres such as The Kenneth Moore Theatre, Ilford (Cinderella) and The Queens Theatre, Hornchurch (The Sound Of Music)
The longer story
My great grandmother was called Adelaide Duggan, who was born and raised in the East End of London in 1901, I never met her and my great grandfather (from Wales) passed when I was very young; his name was Thomas.
My father has passed on some amusing stories about Addie & Tom as they were known; and that Addie yearned for one of her three grandchildren to learn the piano, and was often saying that they had "piano hands", meaning they could each spread their fingers comfortably in reaching an octave on the keys.
We were lucky enough to inherit my great grandmother's piano, my father dreaming that my brother or I might one day make his grandmother's dream of a pianist in the family come true. That pianist, as it transpired would be me.
My mother comes from Ireland, where they all have music in their blood - her voice is much better than my father's; so their family contributions certainly differ!
Addie's dream came true in the end then. I took to the piano and soon started to sing as well, copying classical songs like Summertime (Gershwin) and musical theatre songs like Castle On A Cloud (Les Misérables).
